Joints, Implants, and Infections: Orthopedic Infections and Responsible Antimicrobial Use in Livestock, Equine, and Small Animal Practice

Joints, Implants, and Infections: Orthopedic Infections and Responsible Antimicrobial Use in Livestock, Equine, and Small Animal Practice

2026 ACVS Surgery Summit Seminar

Recorded for On-Demand

This seminar brings together experts in farm animal, equine, and small animal orthopedics to explore the prevention, diagnosis, and management of orthopedic infections across veterinary species. Special emphasis is placed on evidence-based clinical decision-making, with speakers providing practical and scientific insights into antimicrobial stewardship, regulations, antimicrobial alternatives, and guidelines for cases without definitive microbial data.

While each speaker addresses species-specific challenges during their individual lectures, the panel concludes with a discussion on the shared role of veterinary orthopedic surgeons in advancing responsible antimicrobial use while optimizing patient outcomes.
